Cremation Urn FAQ.

What size of urn do I need?

That will depend on the amount of cremains (cremated remains) you have and if you are wanting to keep them together in one urn, or divide them amongst mulitple urns or locations. The typical formula is based on the approximate weight of the deceased, prior to death. Using this formula, one pound will approximately equal one square inch of cremains. For example if the person weighed 180 pounds, you would need an urn with a capacity of 180 cubic inches. If you wanted to divide the cremains, the total capacity would need to total at least 180 cubic inches.

Why are there different sizes?

Many people will divide the cremains (cremated remains) among family members, or keep some and scatter the remainder in a favorite place of the deceased. If you want to keep the entire set of cremains together, most likely the largest size is the one you will need. In the case of young children, a smaller size may be adequate. See the notes above on how to estimate the necessary capacity of the urn.

What is a Keepsake urn?

A Keepsake urn is intended to store only a small part of ones cremains (cremated remains). They come in various forms and sizes.

Can the lid be permanently sealed?

Yes. We recommend 100% silicone, or an expoxy that is formulated for natural stone. These can by found at any local hardware store and are typically found near the paint section. You most likely will not find a silicone labeled for granite or marble, however if it is 100% silicone it should work. Most of the time it is labeled for windows, bathrooms, etc. It does come in different colors and we recommend transparent to minimize any visual residue. Simply apply the silicone or expoxy on the portion of the lip of the lid and lip of the urn that touch and then put the lid on. Any silicone that oozes out can be wiped up with a papertowel. Even if you didn't notice until the silicone is dry, don't fret. It will peel off when completely dry. If using epoxy, remove when still wet.

Do you ship outside of the U.S.?
